The process for buying these properties differs from a typical real estate transaction because they are owned by Hernando County. There is a specific purchase and sale agreement to be used for each property that is then reviewed before being placed on the agenda for the board of county commissioners to vote on. The process, from start to close usually takes anywhere from 60-90 days.
